Meredith Spence, Principal

Mrs. Spence is originally from Montgomery, AL.  She graduated from Jefferson Davis High School and earned her Bachelor of Arts Degree in Communications from Auburn University.  She earned her Masters in Educational Leadership from the University of West Florida.  She holds a Florida Professional Certificate in Educational Leadership, Principalship and English.  Mrs. Spence is a graduate of the Dr. Brian Dassler's Leadership Institute which is part of the Florida's Commissioner of Education state initiative for developing educational leaders. 

Prior to being named the Principal of Dune Lakes Elementary School by Supt. A. Russell Hughes, Mrs. Spence served in school administration for over eight years.   She was Principal of Bay Elementary School for four years, the Assistant Principal of Van R. Butler Elementary School and a Teacher on Special Assignment at Emerald Coast Middle School.  She also served as the Executive Director of the Walton Education Foundation, Inc. and Grant Writer for Walton County School District.  She taught English and Intensive Reading to middle school students. She developed the Youth Leadership Program in Walton County and taught Youth Leadership at South Walton High School and Freeport High School.

Jennifer Nick, Assistant Principal

Prior to being named the Assistant Principal of Dune Lakes Elementary School,  Mrs. Nick served as an Assistant Principal of Bay Elementary School and Emerald Coast Middle School.  Mrs. Nick has held several teaching and administrative postitions during her 21-year career with the Walton County School District. Before this, she was a speech pathologist with the Montogmery, Ala. County Public School System. She has served as an Exceptional Student Education teacher, General Education teacher, instructional coach, and district administrator. Mrs. Nick currently holds an Educationnal Specialist Degree in Education, Master of Education and Master of Special Education, and a Bachelor's Degree in Speech Pathology and Education.
Mrs. Nick and her husband own and operate Nick's Seafood Restaurant in Basin Bayou. She takes great pride in serving the community and supporting and leading numerous comminity causes. Mrs. Nick and her husband have two children: Aubree, 16; and Cade, 10. Both attend schools in the Walton County School District.
